The following is a partial report of campus crime between Oct. 1 and Tuesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.
Aggravated robbery: 1:23 a.m. Oct. 1, Settegast Hall east side entrance — A visitor reported three unknown suspects stole her purse at gunpoint between 1:10 and 1:23 a.m.
Theft: 8:25 a.m. Oct. 1, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center men's locker room — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole approximately $60 in cash from his secured locker between 6:30 and 8 a.m.
Theft: 1:38 p.m. Oct. 1, Cambridge Oaks — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole his unattended, secured bicycle between 1 and 1:15 p.m.
Possession of child pornography: 4:01 p.m. Oct. 1, Technology II Building — A staff member reported that child pornography was found on a UH-owned computer. Occurred between 11:37 a.m. Sept. 9 and sometime Sept. 28. An investigation is under way.
Possession of marijuana: 1:24 a.m. Oct. 2, Cambridge Oaks — A student was arrested and transported to Harris County Jail for possession of marijuana. Also, seven students were issued Student Life Referrals and one student was issued a Residential Life Referral.
Assault: 8:12 p.m. Oct. 3, Cullen Oaks — Complainant reported her boyfriend struck her child while the trio were traveling in the boyfriend's car at 7:20 p.m. An investigation is under way.
Theft: 9:42 a.m. Monday, Fleming Building basement — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole an unattended, unsecured lathe part between 5 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Criminal mischief: 11:20 a.m. Monday, Bayou Oaks east parking lot — A student reported an unknown person(s) scratched her parked, secured vehicle between 12:30 and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 2.
Theft: 12:22 p.m. Monday, Farish Hall third floor — A faculty member reported an unknown person attempted to steal a textbook from his unattended, unsecured office between 12:15 and 12:20 p.m. The textbook was recovered and an investigation is under way.
Debit card abuse: 6:05 p.m. Monday, University Center — Complainant reported items were stolen from her attended, unsecured purse and several unauthorized transactions were made on her debit card. Occurred between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Sept. 23.
Theft: 7:30 p.m. Monday, Agnes Arnold Hall basement and Science & Research I — A staff member reported an unknown person(s) stole a UH-owned videocassette recorder from a classroom and damaged a second VCR while attempting to remove it from a bracket. Occurred between noon Sept. 24 and 3:45 p.m. Oct. 1.
Driving while intoxicated: 3:28 a.m. Tuesday, Parking Lot 1A — A visitor was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a second visitor was arrested on an outstanding warrant and public intoxication and a third visitor was arrested for public intoxication.
Burglary: 3:26 p.m. Tuesday, Parking Lot 20C — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole the parking permit from his open Jeep between 2 and 7 p.m. Oct. 1.
Duty upon striking an unattended vehicle: 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, Parking Lot 20A — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) damaged his parked vehicle and did not leave the information required by law. Occurred between 9:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Burglary: 8:12 p.m. Tuesday, Parking Lot 15D — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) burglarized his parked, secured vehicle, but did not steal anything from it. Occurred between 5 and 8:10 p.m.
Theft: 11:02 p.m. Tuesday, Science & Research II third floor — Complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole his laptop computer from his unattended, unsecured office between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m.
Burglary: 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, Cullen Oaks visitors lot — An unknown person(s) burglarized a student's unsecured vehicle between 12:19 and 5:50 a.m.
