Campus Crime Report


The following is a partial report of campus crime between Aug. 19 and Tuesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Smell of marijuana: 10:58 a.m. Aug. 20, Cullen Oaks Apartments – An assistant manager of Cullen Oaks Apartments detected the smell of marijuana from an apartment while conducting room checks for move-in. The student was issued Student Life and Residential Life Referrals. Occurred at 10:58 a.m.

Traffic offense: 2:36 p.m. Aug. 20, Lot 1B – A staff member reported an unknown person struck and caused minor damages to her unattended and parked vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle did not leave information as required by state law. There are no suspects. Occurred between 7:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 6:21 p.m. Aug. 20, Lot 1A – A student reported his unattended and unsecured vehicle was burglarized while parked in Lot 1A. There are no witnesses and or suspects. Occurred between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19 and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20.

Smell of marijuana: 11:00 p.m. Thursday, Bates Residence Hall – While making checks of the area, a residential assistant smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from a room. The UH Department of Public Safety was notified of the incident. No marijuana was located and the resident was issued a Student Life and Residential Life Referral. Occurred at 11:00 p.m.

Forgery: 12:31 p.m. Thursday, University Hilton – A staff member reported someone paid for their meal at a UH restaurant with a counterfeit bill. There are no suspects. Occurred between noon and 12:30 p.m.

Theft: 10:37 a.m. Friday, Cullen Oaks Apartments – A student reported someone stole his vehicle’s taillights while the vehicle was parked and unattended in the south parking lot of Cullen Oaks Apartments. There are no suspects. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. Friday.

Robbery: 6:45 a.m. Monday, Roy G. Cullen Building. – A staff member reported that someone hit her in the face and stole her purse on the second floor of the Roy G. Cullen Building. An investigation is under way. Occurred at 6:30 a.m.
