CORRECTION: Guns on campus article

Dear readers,

Eric Miller, author of the article ‘Perry shoots down gun bill’, has resigned from The Daily Cougar.

Miller is not to blame for the inaccurate information in this article. Miller had correct information in the version that was sent to our staff. We would like to apologize to Miller, Gov. Perry and all of our readers.

Miller has had to deal with a lot of grief that he shouldn’t have faced. The News editors, copy editors, managing editor and editor in chief are to blame. We made a terrible blunder and hope you will forgive us.

The Daily Cougar’s policy for corrections prevented us from absolving Miller’s name until he was no longer working with us.

The Daily Cougar is a team. We do not point fingers at each other. Every employee of the newspaper shares the blame for the mistakes that we make. This is why we stated that the entire newspaper made the mistake and did not clear Miller’s name.

In light of Miller resignation, we are allowed to remove Miller’s name from our mistake. Again, we apologize for this inexcusable error. Miller is not the person to blame. We will continue to work hard to avoid future slip-ups.
