FIVE MINUTES OF FAME: Transfer student enjoys time at UH

Stephen Wong: What was the reason for your transfer from Texas State University to UH?

Koriane Campbell: Well, I changed my major from biology to business. I thought that UH’s business program is better than the one at Texas State. Plus, there are more opportunities coming back home to Houston to find a job.

Wong: Do you like it here better?

Campbell: Yeah. I like it better because my family is here, and I have more friends here. Also, the campus is not as hilly as Texas State, so I don’t have to put as much effort into walking from class to class. My freshman year, my dorm was at the bottom of the hill and my class was at the top of the hill. There is also more to do here, surprisingly, than (in) San Marcos.

Wong: You don’t miss the San Marcos outlets?

Campbell: Eh. I didn’t shop too much at San Marcos. Plus, we have the Galleria and the new outlets by Cypress – all the shopping I can do.

Wong: Are you going to go to graduate school?

Campbell: Not right away. I would like to get a job first and then possibly go back to get my MBA. We will see how life goes.

Wong: What about getting your certification in accounting?

Campbell: I might get my CPA later on. I am not going to get it right away. Plus, I would have to take more classes to qualify for the test.

Wong: What do you plan on doing after you graduate?

Campbell: I plan to attempt to find a job in accounting, preferably in town. I live at home right now, and it would be very nice to get my own place so I don’t have to drive to and from places.

Wong: If UH played Texas State in a football game, which team would you root for?

Campbell: UH for sure! Texas State is not very good at football, and we are in the top 25 in the country, so I (would have) to root for the Coogs!
