Award-winning TV director joins UH radio operations

Lisa Trapani Shumante, an Emmy award-winning TV veteran, has been named the executive director and general manager of Houston Public Media, which combines the operations of public radio stations KUHF-FM, KUHA-AM and the public television station KUHT.

Shumante is the director of programming and marketing for KHOU-TV and worked as an anchor and producer for KTRK for 11 years. Shumante has won numerous awards, including a 2010 Lone Star Regional Emmy for community service.

As executive director and general manager, Shumante will be responsible for the management, fiscal and media operations of Houston Public Media, which is located in Melcher Center for Public Broadcasting on the UH campus.
