Religion, sexuality to be discussed by panelists

The first installment of the LGBT Lecture Series for Spring 2012 tackles one of the biggest issues facing the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community: Religion.

UH’s LGBT Resource Center and the GLBT Studies Minor Program will present “Religion & The LGBT Person,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lone Star Room of the University Center.

With a primary focus on Christianity, the event features a panel that will discuss how individuals can reconcile their religion with their LGBT identity and continue to develop spiritually.

Panelists include the Rev. Janice Ladd, Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church; Rev. Dr. Ginny Brown Daniel, Plymouth United church; James Evans, former ordained minister and reform camp survivor; Tierra Ortiz-Rodriguez, Dignity Houston Community Organizer and Rabbi Kenny Weiss.
