Enrollment Services: use IRS Data Retrieval Tool

UH Enrollment Services is encouraging students selected for Free Application for Federal Student Aid verification to take advantage of the new IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

The DRT allows students and parents to obtain tax information directly from the IRS via their previous federal income tax returns, and upload it directly into their FAFSA.

Most students are able to use the DRT, but certain filing statuses will make a student ineligible, such as filing as Head of Household or filing a foreign return.

The tool can be accessed from the FAFSA Financial Information tab. Click IRS Data Retrieval Tool to view and transfer user tax information directly from the IRS. The user will be transferred to the IRS website and the user’s FAFSA will be saved. Students should not alter any other information on their FAFSA while completing this process.

The UH Enrollment Services Street Team will be available Wednesday and Thursday in front of the Library and UC Satellite to answer questions concerning financial aid, including those about the verification process.
