Senior corner D.J. Hayden was named Conference USA defensive player of the week on Monday.
Head coach Tony Levine said he knew Hayden was headed for a touchdown when he caught an interception. Hayden went 97 yards for a score.
“As soon as he caught the ball, I was signaling for the field goal team,” Levine said.
Hayden had an interception return for a touchdown for the second consecutive game. The return gave Hayden two interceptions on the game.
“I caught it. All I saw was green,” Hayden said. “I just ended up in the end zone.”
It was Hayden’s second pick of the game.
