Cougar Pitch finals to take place Thursday

The Cougar Pitch finals will take place from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.

“Cougar Pitch is an annual event at the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship designed to encourage students to come up with ideas and pitch them in a concise format that addresses the main questions that are of interest to the audience,” said Dr. Hesam Panahi, who teaches courses in entrepreneurship.

The presenters with the top pitches in the technology and non-technology categories will each win $1,000. Second place winners have a chance at $500, while the audience favorite can win $250.

Panahi said that past Cougar Pitch ideas have included a mobile app that can help people sign up for volunteer activities and an infant car seat with a weight sensor to alert if there is a child in the back seat.

“Approximately 17 finalists are selected to be in the competition,” Panahi said, although nearly 100 students applied for the competition.

Tickets to the competition are free and are available online.
