Veterans move to 2nd floor of new UC

After presenting to the Student Government Association in its final meeting of the semester, the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services has agreed to relocate Veterans Services to the second floor of the New UC.

“We have been engaged in conversations with students, staff members and other constituents regarding the physical location of the Office of Veterans Services in the newly renovated and expanded University Center. After listening to various concerns regarding the needs of student veterans, we have concluded that the office is best suited for the second level of the north addition,” said Richard Walker, vice president and chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services.

In Wednesday’s SGA meeting, a group of veterans presented their concerns with the basement causing bad memories to surface for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

“This space is designed to accommodate the needs of student veterans and provide them with the resources necessary to succeed at UH,” Walker said. “Upon completion of the construction, we are certain that our veterans will find this space very accommodating and conducive to a positive collegiate experience.”

  • I’m not sure who thought it would be a good idea to put veterans (some of whom have real issues with loud noises due to PTSD) next to a noisy bowling alley but I’m glad the vets stuck up for themselves.
