Khator restructures cabinet to create new division

President and Chancellor Renu Khator announced hierarchial changes to her cabinet Thursday, May 15, which moves the Department of University Marketing and Communication out from under the Division of University Advancement to directly reporting to the chancellor.

“This will allow both units to operate in a more focused way, serving the University with greater efficiency and effectiveness,” Khator said.

This move will make Richie Hunter the vice president of the new division as well as a part of Khator’s cabinet and the Council of Vice Presidents.

Hunter joined UH in 2013 as the associate vice president for marketing and communications after serving as vice president of government programs for Coventry Health Care. Prior to that, she served as the chief marketing officer for Health Net, Inc. where she developed and executed marketing and communication strategies, advertising campaigns, market research and customer feedback.

“She arrived as a well-recognized leader in strategic marketing, brand development, integrated communication and business strategy,” Khator said.

“She has provided immediate, effective and strategic leadership for numerous high-profile initiatives involving the University, the UH community and the UH System.”

Hunter will still be responsible for the University’s marketing, communication strategies, brand vision, and national media initiatives.
