Healthy take on a classic : Banana pancakes

Pancakes are a breakfast staple that many of us love indulging in. This fluffy treat is usually accompanied by a high calorie count.

According to IHOP’s nutritional menu information, a stack of three buttermilk pancakes at this breakfast chain has 470 calories. Keep in mind that this not include counts for butter and syrup. That is a big hit to one’s daily calorie intake, considering that these provide the body little nutrients besides refined carbohydrates.

A conventional stack of pancakes at your favorite diner can have a calorie count of up to 500. Opt for the healthier option, banana pancakes, which have a lower calorie count and keep you fuller for longer. |Image courtesy of Wikimedia Commons

Thankfully, there is a healthier option available that is just as savory and can be made at home with two simple ingredients.

–          1 ripe banana

–          2 whole eggs

Now just blend ingredients for about 45 seconds or until smooth. Spray a pan with your favorite type of oil and flip.

According to YouTube fitness instructor and blogger, Cassey Ho of blogilates.com, one serving of these has 248 calories and 14 grams of protein. This recipe also includes zero regrets. Bon appetit.
