November 4, 2014
For the first time in more than 14 years, following Gov. Rick Perry’s historic three terms in office, Texas has a new governor.
Republican Greg Abbott has been elected Governor of Texas, according to the Associated Press. Democrat Wendy Davis was shown to have been defeated by a 3-to-2 margin, according to early returns.
Republicans Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton were also elected for lieutenant governor and attorney general, respectively.
Abbott, Patrick and Paxton will be sworn into office in January.
