The Cougars look to open their season in a big way Friday after coming off a promising 108-83 win over the North Alabama Lions last Saturday, scoring 17 three-pointers with six players scoring double-digit points.

The Cougars are 49-20 all-time in season openers with nine wins in their last ten instances. The statistic is further enhanced by new head coach Kelvin Sampson’s 19-2 record in season openers throughout his career.

Strong performances from junior guard Jherrod Stiggers and sophomore forward Danrad Knowles each scored 20 points in the Cougars’ last outing. The two hope to replicate the offensive prowess a Racers team that won their first game of the season 74-42 against the Freed-Hardman Lions on Nov. 6.

The game will be broadcast live from Murray, KY on KPRC 950 AM starting at 7:15 p.m. as the Cougars are ready to pick up their first win of the season.
