GALLERY: Two artists pair up, another captures destruction

The first three pictures are part of “I perceive the other and lose myself,” a paired exhibition of the work of Sofia Cordova and Autumn Knight at the She Works Flexible gallery in Montrose. Both artists performed Saturday night, with Sofia focusing on an alternate world dealing with themes relevant to our own while Autumn Knight gave attendees a tour of black American survivalist methods.

“Islamic Violins,” by Ibrahim Quraishi, takes an instrument originating in Central Asia that represents beauty and destroys it in the midst of grainy television screens, creating a tension between the media and the contemplation of beauty.
