The No. 3 Cougars will look to make a jump in the American Athletic Conference Championships this weekend as they face off with the No. 2 Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

The Cougars are coming off a dominant three-game sweep of the UConn Huskies where they outscored the conference rival 10-5 over the weekend. At 22-23 on the season, the Cougars will look to climb over the .500 mark against the Hurricane, who are on a six-game win streak.

After grabbing a comeback, walk-off win to close the series against the Huskies, the Cougars are looking to carry the momentum into Saturday’s game. Junior Courtney Klinger finished the final day of the weekend going 4-4 with the walk-off double, and she hopes to lead the offense against the Hurricane.

The Cougars, 7-4, have the potential to take second place from the Golden Hurricane, 8-4, as they are only one conference game behind the Tulsa squad. The UCF Knights hold a dominant lead over the two, however, as they are 14-1 in AAC play.

The series will start with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and finish with Sunday’s game at noon.
