The Houston Cougars fell in their first road test this season, as the University of Utah Utes defeated them in a  4-1 battle.

Sophomore midfielder Selena Peters scored the first goal for the Cougars this season when she knocked in a goal from 30 yards out in the second half.

But the Cougars surrendered three goals in the first half to a fierce Utah team, and just couldn’t recover in the second half.

A highlight of the evening for the Cougars was senior goal keeper Jordan Brown, who moved into seventh all-time in the Cougars save list.

Brown had nine saves on the night, and now has 97 total saves for her career as a Cougar.

With the loss, Houston falls to 0-2-0 on the season, following a season-opening loss to Texas State and the loss to Utah.

The Cougars will conclude their two-game road trip in the state of Utah when they travel to face the Utah State Aggies on Sunday.

Following the game against Utah State, Houston will return home to face the University of Incarnate Word on Sept. 4, with the game to kick off at 7 p.m.
