The 12 American Athletic Conference teams were in action in week six of the college football season.
Cincinnati
The University of Cincinnati Bearcats played host to the University of Miami (Florida) Hurricanes.
The Bearcats took a seven point lead into the half and didn’t let the Hurricanes come back, as true-freshman quarterback Hayden Moore racked up 279 passing yards.
With the win, Cincinnati improves to 3-2 overall, but still sits at 0-2 in AAC play, with a game against Brigham Young University in two weeks.
Memphis and USF
The University of Memphis and University of South Florida squared off in Tampa, Fla., where the Bulls gave the Tigers a run for their money.
In a relatively low-scoring affair for the Tigers, Memphis came out with the win, 24-17 on the road, as they stay perfect overall and in conference, with 5-0 and 2-0 records respectively.
Temple
Temple University returned from a bye-week to face the University of North Carolina at Charlotte 49ers, and came out with a 37-3 road win, as they also remain lossless at 4-0 overall.
UConn
The University of Connecticut finished with a 30-13 loss against BYU on the road, falling to 2-3 on the season.
Three conference games and the battle for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy highlighted an entertaining Saturday.
Navy
The United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy met in Annapolis, Md. for bragging rights and possession of the trophy.
Navy protected their home-field, as they came away with the 33-11 win. They now have a 4-0 record this season.
Tulane and UCF
The University of Tulane and the University of Central Florida erupted for 76 points, with the Green Wave coming away with the victory, moving to .500 with a 2-2 record, as the Knights stay winless, at 0-5.
East Carolina and SMU
The University of East Carolina traveled to Dallas and came away with a 49-23 win over the Southern Methodist Mustangs, coming back from a 23-7 deficit and rattling of 42 unanswered points to claim the victory.
The Pirates add their first conference win of the season with the win, improving to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the AAC as SMU drops their first conference game, moving to 1-4 on the year.
Tulsa and Houston
Finally, the Cougars and the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane battled back forth in the early afternoon in the first AAC test for either side.
The Cougars dominated the ground to pull away on the road, taking a 38-14 road victory, improving to 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in conference, while Tulsa drops to 2-2 and 0-1 respectively.
The Table
The standings in the AAC remain largely unchanged, as Temple sits at first in the East, with Memphis and Navy sitting atop the West, each with a 2-0 conference record.
Houston and Tulane each sit behind the Tigers and Midshipmen, each with a 1-0 conference record.
Temple controls their destiny, as they are the only team in the East division still undefeated this season.
