SGA to host official UH Watch Party for GOP debate

The Student Government Association will host an official UH Watch Party for the Republican Presidential Debate Thursday.

Students and faculty are invited to attend the party, which will be held in the Houston Room of the Student Center South. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the debate will start at 7:30 p.m.

According to an email from SGA President Shaun Theriot-Smith, all students and faculty are invited to attend and can bring one guest. A valid Cougar ID is required to enter.

The watch party will feature a campus feed with live interactive polling and tweeting.

“An election-themed photo booth will help you remember this historic event for years to come,” Theriot-Smith wrote in the email. “Popcorn will be hot and free refreshments and light snacks will provided while supplies last.”

Attendees will be invited to the Student Center Theater once the Houston Room reaches full capacity.

Other watch parties:

The Texas Federation of College Republicans will host an additional watch party at Calhoun’s Rooftop Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.  All students and faculty are invited to attend.

Free food will be provided while supplies last.

      • No KJ … there is no excitement on the Democrat side. You have to look with a magnifying glass to find the numbers.

        • What does my being an Eagle Scout have to do with this discussion? The watch party is taking place for the sole reason that there’s a Republican debate on campus. I’m not a Republican myself, but you can bet that I’ll be attending this watch party because we’re very lucky to have a debate hosted on our campus; it shows that UH is on the rise. If you feel that this is somehow against either the Oath or the Law, I’m all ears.
