The European Commission strayed away from its usual topics of money and quotas Wednesday as it defended a raunchy Internet clip, Reuters reported.
The EC was questioned on whether the 44-second video clip of 18 couples reaching climax was the best use of Belgium taxpayers’ money.
The clip is made up of various scenes from EU-funded films, including Goodbye Lenin! and Amelie.
A commission spokesman said the video clip, Let’s Come Together, hasn’t garnered any negative feedback in the 14 weeks it has been circulating on the Internet.
"Let us for once also have a good sense of humor and let us not start the old wars of the fifties about what is sex, what is pornography and what is simply normal to watch on television," spokesman Martin Selmayr said.
