Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime from Friday to Tuesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Credit/Debit card abuse: 1:55 p.m., Friday, Lyndall Finley Wortham Theatre – A UH staff member reported that someone stole their wallet from their unattended and unsecured purse at Wortham Theatre. The staff member said the person who stole the wallet made eight unauthorized transactions on their credit card. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Occurred between 12:40 and 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Possession of marijuana: 2:11 a.m., Saturday, Lot 4A – A police officer observed a suspicious vehicle in Lot 4A. The officer made contact with the driver and smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana after giving written consent to a search of the vehicle. The driver was arrested and released to the Harris County Jail. The three occupants of the vehicle were also found to be minors in possession of alcohol and released to a guardian with no criminal charges filed. All individuals were issued a criminal trespass warning from the campus. Occurred between 2:11 and 2:14 a.m. Saturday.

Burglary: 4:32 p.m., Sunday, Moody Towers – A student reported that someone entered an unsecured and unattended residence and took property from within. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 4:32 p.m. Saturday and 4:32 p.m. Sunday.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 10:03 p.m., Sunday Lot 4A – A UH student reported that someone broke into his vehicle by shattering the driver side passenger window. The student reported that no property was taken from inside the vehicle. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 9:12 and 9:21 p.m. Sunday.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 10:49 p.m., Sunday Lot 9C – A UH student reported that someone burglarized her unattended and secured vehicle while it was parked in Lot 9C. Occurred between 11:44 and 11:53 p.m. July 12.

Theft: 11:41 a.m., Monday, Engineering Complex – A UH staff member reported that someone stole a laptop computer from the Allied Geophysical Laboratories on campus. This is an ongoing investigation with no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 10:40 and 11 a.m. July 12.

Credit/Debit card abuse: 3:30 p.m., Monday, University Hilton – A visitor reported that someone obtained his credit card number for unauthorized transactions. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred July 11.

Theft: 4:57 p.m., Tuesday, Bayou Oaks Apartments – A student reported that someone stole his unattended and unsecured laptop computer while he was in the

process of moving out of his Bayou Oaks apartment. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 8 and 9 p.m. June 30.

Criminal mischief: 5:35 p.m., Tuesday, Bayou Oaks Apartments – A student reported that someone keyed the passenger side of his vehicle from front to back, while the vehicle was parked in Bayou Oaks Apartments. There are no suspects or witnesses.
