Obama to speak in Houston

Presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., will visit the Toyota Center at 6 p.m. today for a Stand for Change rally as a part of his Texas campaign before the Democratic primary elections March 4.

Obama currently has 1,280 delegates as opposed to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., with 1,218 delegates, The Houston Chronicle reported Monday.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., will also campaign for Obama across Texas this week, according to Obama’s Web site. Kennedy will make stops in Corpus Christi and Edinburg, according to the site.

The Texas primary could be a deciding factor in the Democratic nomination.

While the event is free, tickets are required for entry and are now only available on a standby basis, according to Obama’s Web site. The site also said the rally will be shown on a screen outside of the Toyota Center. To print standby tickets, visit www.texas.barackobama.com/Houston.
