Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime from March 28 to Thursday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Criminal mischief: 2:06 p.m., March 28, Lot9C – A visitor reported that someone scratched an obscenity into the driver’s side door of her vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot. There are no witnesses or suspects. Occurred between 9:45 a.m. March 24 and 1:45 p.m. March 28.

Assault: 10:55 p.m., Wednesday, Settegast Residence Hall – Two students were involved in a verbal altercation that may have become physical. Both parties involved were issued Student and Residential Life Referrals and released. Occurred between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday

Public intoxication: 11:04 p.m., Wednesday, Lot 10A – A visitor reported a male was passed out on the ground next to a vehicle in Lot

10A. The male was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the UH Department of Public Safety for booking. Occurred between 11 p.m. and 11:04 p.m. Wednesday.

Criminal mischief: 9:44 a.m., Thursday, Engineering Complex – A staff member reported that three individuals were writing on the sidewalk with chalk. The three students were issued Student Life Referrals. Occurred at 9:44 a.m. Thursday.

Unlawful possession of firearm: 5:50 p.m., Thursday, Calhoun Road – A visitor was stopped for a traffic violation. The visitor did not have a valid Texas driver’s license because it was suspended for driving while intoxicated. While inventorying the vehicle a handgun was found under the front seat. The visitor was also a convicted felon. The visitor was arrested for unlawful possession of a handgun, transported and released to the Harris County Jail. Occurred at 5:50 p.m. Thursday.
