Campus crime report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between June 25 and Wednesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH police department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Criminal Trespass: 12:40 a.m. July 31, Cullen Oaks Apartments – Two students at Cullen Oaks were stopped by UH DPS security officer when it was determined one of the students was issued a criminal trespass warning for Cullen Oaks. A Harris County citation and Student Life Referral were issued to the previously warned student and a criminal trespass warning was issued to the other student. Occurred between 12:38 a.m. and 12:40 a.m.

Failure to Display Drivers License/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility/No Valid Inspection Certificate: 4:19 p.m. July 31, 4000 Holman Street – A visitor was observed driving a vehicle on a city street displaying an expired Texas inspection sticker. Upon further investigation it was determined the driver had no valid driver’s license or insurance for the vehicle. The driver was arrested for the traffic violation and transported to Harris County Jail. Occurred at 4:19 p.m.

Burglary of a Building or Habitation: 12:35 a.m. July 31, Cullen Oaks Apartments – A student reported that unknown suspects burglarized her unsecured and unattended Cullen Oaks apartment. Several items were stolen from the room. An investigation is unde way. Occurred between 9:57 p.m. and 10:07 p.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: 2:41 a.m. July 31, Cullen Oaks Apartments – A student was sleeping on a bench at Cullen Oaks circle. It was determined the individual had been drinking alcohol and was under the legal drinking age. The student was released to his father. No criminal charges were filed and the student has been issued a blind Residential Life and Student Life Referral in reference to this incident.

Theft: 7:54 a.m. August 2, Welcome Center – A staff member reported that someone stole two surveillance cameras from Room 112, Welcome Center. There are no witnesses and no video evidence. Occurred between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Theft of Service: 7 p.m. Saturday, University Hilton Hotel – A student was arrested for Theft of Service after he ordered and consumed a meal at Eric’s Restaurant and left the area without paying for the meal. The incident occurred at 7 p.m.

Theft: 8:16 a.m. Monday, College of Education – Internal auditing reported that a staff member used UH money to make personal purchases. The monies were in the form of prepaid debit cards. An investigation is under way. Occurred between June 24 and July 16.
