True to its name, The Moores School of Music’s Collage 2008 will blend an assortment of music into one unique piece.
Conceived by Franz Krager, director of the UH Orchestras, Collage, now in its 10th year, presents a wide selection of music from all of the Moores School’s ensembles and choruses. The Spirit of Houston Marching Band, Moores Symphony Orchestra and the UH Jazz Ensemble, along with others, will perform pieces from this season’s repertoire.
Concert Chorale, the Moores School’s premiere large choral ensemble will also perform. The group will sing "America the Beautiful" with the wind ensemble, a piece that will be featured at the investiture ceremony of UH President and UH System Chancellor Renu Khator. From opera to marching band, there is always something for everyone at Collage.
Not only does the concert allow the audience to sample what the Moores School of Music is offering this season, it provides a unique listening experience as well. Many different ensembles will perform, but there will be no breaks between performances. Instead, each piece will transition seamlessly into the next, without pause.
The Moores School of Music will host Collage 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Moores Opera House.
