The University will remain open Thursday as Hurricane Ike nears the Gulf of Mexico. Plans remain uncertain for Friday.
The UH Emergency Management Team convened today to discuss the threat of the hurricane, which is forecast to make landfall along the Texas coast on Saturday morning. A mandatory evacuation is in effect for the coastal area of Brazoria County. Voluntary evacuations have been issued for the western end of Galveston Island and remaining areas of Brazoria County.
