Shai Mohammed: Were you in town for the Hurricane?
Justin Bogert: Yeah. I waited it out.
Mohammed: Where do you live?
Bogert: I live on Kirby and University over in the (Rice) Village area.
Mohammed: How was that for you?
Bogert: It wasn’t too bad. I stayed with a bunch of my friends over at one of their mom’s house because her house was more protected. We just drank a lot of beer and waited it out.
Mohammed: So what did you do during the week?
Bogert: My electricity actually got turned on really early, I think Sunday night. I lucked out there, so I just zoned out, watched a lot of TV, screwed around on the Internet. I did a little bit of photography. I tried to catch some of the damage that had happened before they fixed it up.
Mohammed: Do spend any time on the Blogosphere? Did you blog any of it?
Bogert: A little. I’m not really big into it, but I have my own blog and I posted a little bit about it with some pictures and everything else.
Mohammed: How have your friends been?
Bogert: Pretty much everything’s been the same. I think I’ve got one friend who still doesn’t have electricity, but everybody else, they’re doing OK. Their power is back up, they’re back to work and school.
Mohammed: How do you feel about campus? Do you think it weathered (the storm) fairly well?
Bogert: Well, you know, I actually haven’t noticed much damage to the buildings. I mean, the trees got it.
Mohammed: Yeah. I think the Architecture Building has a chunk of its roof gone.
Bogert: Yeah, it didn’t get too bad. I was downtown and saw the Chase Building and it was a lot worse down there.
Mohammed: What do you do apart from school?
Bogert: I’m a bum (laughs). I’m actually taking some time off. I was working at real estate firm, but I didn’t like it and I quit. I had a little bit of money saved up so I’m just relaxing. Right now my money’s starting to run low so I need to start looking for a new job. But, you know, just focusing on school basically.
Mohammed: That’s kind of cool. I haven’t really had a chance to just focus on school and not do other things. I imagine that would be nice.
Bogert: It is. I’ve been working and going to school for so long that I needed a little bit of time off.
