Have you ever needed advice about something but were too ashamed or embarrassed to ask a friend? Are you dealing with issues and don’t know where to turn? If this sounds like you or someone you know, you are in the right place! Ask Coog offers advice for all types of concerns.
Starting next week, Ask Coog will offer an impartial and anonymous resource for the UH community to look to for advice about life, love, family, college life, or whatever you have on your mind. Think of Ask Coog as a modern, local version of "Dear Abby" with a quicker turn-around in response. No question will be deemed too unusual or awkward. You can ask Coog anything and be assured that your name and any identifying facts will never be published, nor will Coog ever try to seek you out.
The way it works is students can e-mail Coog privately anytime at [email protected]. A few e-mails will be selected for response and be published in the Friday edition of The Daily Cougar. While every question may not be answered every week, don’t worry. Coog will get those questions out there, because just as you may need advice about something, chances are someone in a similar situation does too and will be able to benefit from the advice as well.
Coog knows that everyone at UH wants to help out whenever possible. Ask Coog provides that chance by printing the advice to others and by asking that people on campus spread the word, or at least the e-mail address!
Coog will not be able to give advice for things that require a professional. However, you may be pointed in the right direction to get the help you need. In no way will Coog tolerate threats or inappropriate language, nor will Coog condone violence toward others. Again, Ask Coog is here to offer advice and help the UH community as much as possible. Coog is not a professional counselor, just simply an anonymous entity for you to turn to when you want advice and the security of remaining anonymous.
Specifics aside, keep Ask Coog in mind when you need guidance or information. Spread the word, the e-mail address: [email protected], and look for Ask Coog every Friday in the Life and Arts section of The Daily Cougar.
