The Moores School of Music will hold two concerts this week – the Winds of Texas Woodwind Quintet and the Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds.
The Winds of Texas concert starts at 7:30 p.m. today at the Dudley Recital Hall. This faculty recital features performances by Jeffrey Robinson on bassoon, Robin Hough on oboe and Jeffrey Lerner on clarinet.
Two guest artists will also perform, including Nancy Goodearl on French horn and Peggy Russell, an original member of the group, on flute. The program features Nielsen’s "Quintet, Op. 43," Thuille’s "Sextet for Winds and Piano, Op 6" and Pilss’ "Serenade for Wind." Tickets are $5.00 for students and $10.00 for general admission and are available at the door.
The Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Moores Opera House.
Directed by John Alstrin, the Assistant Director of Bands and the Conductor of the Moores School of Music Symphonic Winds, the concert will feature Souza’s "El Capitan," Henry Fillmore’s "The Footlifter," and Samuel R. Hazo’s "Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song," among others.
Tickets for this concert are $5.00 for students and $10.00 for general admission.
