Hospitality school to honor titans

Students will have the chance to take tips from some of the hospitality industry’s most successful figures this week as the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management inducts three members into its 2008 Hospitality Hall of Honor.

S. Truett Cathy, founder and chairman of Chick-fil-A; Sir Rocco Forte, chairman of the Rocco Forte Collection; and Steve Rushmore, president and founder of HVS Global Hospitality Services, will be inducted into the college’s Hospitality Hall of Honor on Wednesday.

The Rocco Forte Collection serves as one of the world’s leading hotel brands, offering restaurants, spas, wedding and special events accommodations. HVS is a consulting organization possessing expertise in a variety of hospitality and operational services ranging from hotel management and food and beverage services to gaming services and interior design.

Each year the college honors leaders from the hospitality industry who have marked their careers with tremendous success, inviting them to join the ranks of hospitality giants in the Hall of Honor.

Before the annual ceremony the inductees will participate in Think Tank sessions, where hotel and restaurant management students will have the opportunity to hear advice from Cathy, Forte and Rushmore as they discuss what it takes to be successful.

It is only within the last three years that event organizers have broadened the educational aspect of this event, which now features roundtable discussions moderated by a college faculty member.

Hospitality students eager to learn more about the profession, and those wanting to find out more about the hospitality industry, are welcome to join this week’s events.

The 13th annual Hospitality Hall of Honor reception begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The induction ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the University Hilton, Conrad Hilton Grand Ballroom. The inductees will lead Think Tank sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
