Campus crime report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Oct. 6 and Thursday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event’s location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Theft: 12:35 p.m. Oct. 6, University Center – A student reported someone stole her unattended and unsecured purse. There are no suspects or witnesses. The incident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 3:16 p.m. Oct. 6, Lot 4A – A student reported someone burglarized her unattended and secured vehicle while it was parked in Lot 4A. There are no suspects or witnesses. The incident occurred between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Traffic offense: 4:27 p.m. Oct. 6, Lot 19C – A student reported someone struck his unattended and secured vehicle in Lot 19C and failed to leave required information. Additionally, someone left a note with the striking vehicle’s plate.

Credit/debit card abuse: 8:27 a.m. Oct. 7, UC Satellite – A visitor reported the theft of her wallet from the UC Satellite. Several unauthorized purchases were made on the visitor’s credit/debit cards. An investigation is under way. The incident occurred between 3 p.m. Oct. 3 and noon Oct. 4.

Display of fictitious inspection sticker: 3:21 p.m. Oct. 7, Lot 15A – While on patrol, a UH Department of Public Safety officer observed a vehicle traveling on a public roadway displaying a possible, fictitious or altered Texas DPS inspection sticker. The driver was arrested for the charge and transported to Harris County jail. The incident occurred between 3:18 and 3:24 p.m.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 11:16 p.m. Oct. 7 Lot 20A – A student reported someone burglarized his vehicle while it was parked in Lot 20A.

Traffic offense: 8:36 p.m. Oct. 7, Lot 15G – An individual reported someone driving a dark-colored vehicle followed her into Lot 15G and drove the vehicle into a chained off area. The individual broke the chain, pulling the metal pole from the concrete. There are no suspects. The incident occurred at 8:25 p.m.

Criminal mischief: 3:41 p.m. Oct. 8, Lot 20A – A student reported she parked her secured unattended vehicle in Lot 20A, and when she returned someone had damaged the driver’s side keyhole. There are no suspects. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Criminal mischief: 4:20 p.m. Oct. 8, Lot 20A – A student reported someone damaged her secured and unattended vehicle while it was parked in Lot 20A. There are no witnesses or suspects. The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Theft: 6:53 p.m. Oct. 8, Lot 20A – A student reported someone stole two of his unattended and unsecured "side markers" from his vehicle, while parked in Lot 20A. There are no suspects or witnesses. The incident occurred between 5:40 and 8:55 p.m. Oct. 7.

Traffic offense: 7:48 p.m. Oct. 8, Lot 15D – A student reported someone struck her secured and unattended vehicle, and the striking driver did not leave information. There are no suspects or witnesses. The incident occurred between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Possession of marijuana: 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Lot 1A – Two students and two visitors were detained for possession of marijuana, after being observed parked in a blacked- out vehicle in a parking lot. No criminal charges were filed. Before all were released, the students were issued Student Life Referrals, and the visitors were issued criminal trespass warnings. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 1:45 a.m.
