Nazrin Baghirova: What makes you interesting?
Michael Dyess: Well, since you’re asking, I’m an ex-sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll kind of guy, but now I’m really motivated about school because I have a huge fear of failing in life. I had a job at a strip club a while ago.
Baghirova: I see you’re wearing black nail polish. Are you trying to be a punk rocker?
Dyess: No – I’m actually trying to grow my hair out to its natural color, so I can get an internship.
Baghirova: So your piercings will go too?
Dyess: Yeah, they’re going to have to. I was upset about having to mould myself to the professional world, so I went out and pierced my neck.
Baghirova: I see. So what kind of internship are you looking for?
Dyess: I’m an engineering major.
Baghirova: Really? Why engineering?
Dyess: I like math and I’m good at it, so it seemed like the place to go.
Baghirova: So, do you regularly read the Five Minutes of Fame in The Daily Cougar?
Dyess: No, I never read The Daily Cougar.
Baghirova: So you don’t read newspapers at all, or do you have something personally against The Daily Cougar?
Dyess: No, I don’t really read newspapers, mostly books.
Baghirova: What kind of books?
Dyess: Books for school, mainly, like my physics textbook.
Baghirova: You said you don’t read newspapers. Do you not keep up with what’s going on around you?
Dyess: I relatively keep up with it. I listen to a lot of talk radio.
Baghirova: Who are you voting for in the presidential election?
Dyess: (John) McCain, the better of the two evils.
Baghirova: A conservative, eh?
Dyess: Socially, I’m a liberal, but in the future, I don’t want all the money I worked hard for to be taken away from me. (Barack) Obama is a fine guy, I just don’t agree with his party. I don’t even know why so many college students support him. And I’m personally vested in this race – I fear the idea of a Democratic president and a Democratic Congress. What about checks and balances?
Baghirova: You have a point. So did you see Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric?
Dyess: The one that was edited?
Baghirova: How do you know it was edited?
Dyess: I don’t know. They talked about it on a talk radio show.
Baghirova: I see. How do you feel about her daughter Bristol’s pregnancy?
Dyess: I wish that was my kid, so I could hang around Sarah Palin. She’s hot. No, I’m just joking.
