Cassandra Malork: So, I see you are wearing Greek letters. What fraternity are you in?
Mathis Jones: Sigma Phi Epsilon, the best fraternity on campus.
Malork: How was rush week? Anything too extreme go on?
Jones: Amazing is an understatement. I have never had that much fun in my life. Nothing too extreme happened, though our broomball game did get a little rough.
Malork: What do you mean by rough?
Jones: Most of us couldn’t skate, so we ended up just running around body checking people. We formed groups of about five and just started taking people out.
Malork: Do you recommend incoming freshman or sophomores to rush in the fall?
Jones: I completely recommend it. There is no better way to meet new people and have a good time.
Malork: Do you think hazing during rush week is still going to today on college campuses?
Jones: I’m sure it’s still out there somewhere, but as far as I know it doesn’t exist on the UH campus.
Malork: So besides rushing, how do you like UH so far as an incoming sophomore?
Jones: I am loving the mix of people and the different backgrounds. I don’t know why I didn’t just start out here.
Malork: So, have you been to any of the football games yet this season?
Jones: Yes, both of our home games.
Malork: What was the experience like?
Jones: They were insane. The school spirit and that tailgating with my new fraternity brothers were incredible.
Malork: Do you think we can go all the way in this year’s bowl game?
Jones: We better with all the support those guys have. They have no choice but to bring it home.
Malork: Are you going to Homecoming in November?
Jones: Of course I am. Just be on the look out for what Sigma Phi Epsilon brings to the table.
Malork: So, with the election coming up, who are you pulling for?
Jones: Honestly I have no idea. I agree with points both sides make, so right now it’s a toss-up for me.
Malork: Do you think either candidate can fix where the economy is at right now?
Jones: I’m sure one of them can. If not we should just go back to the barter system.
Malork: Do you think you will have decided by Nov. 4th?
Jones: Oh, I’m sure I will. I have no choice not to get out there and vote. And as the kids say, "Rock the Vote".
