Haunts provide holiday thrills

It is that frightening time of year again – the time when most people rush to get the perfect costume and locate their soundtrack to Rocky Horror Picture Show. However, if any local Houstonian finds himself or herself with nothing to do for Halloween, there is a simple and easy solution. All one needs to do is bust out the Madonna cone-bra, Flashdance leg warmers or a new wave hairstyle and head to Fitzgerald’s.

Fitzgerald’s, having served Houston for 31 years, is hyped up and ready to go for Halloween. "Fitz’s" will be throwing a 1980s-themed party guaranteed to revisit all of Generation X’s favorite moments. The main stage will showcase the musical efforts of different DJ sets, combining music from the ’60s through the ’90s. The Lounge Stage will feature punk artists The Peelander-z. After guests have had their socks rocked off by the musical performance, chainsaws will wreck havoc on helpless blocks of ice as The Cold Front creates ice sculptures to chill the bones.

For nocturnal creatures looking for activity after 2 a.m., speed to the nearest phone booth (or a backseat will probably suffice), quickly change into your favorite superhero costume and make your way to NEXT nightclub. LA remix artist DJ Dawna Montell will grace Houston with a much-anticipated musical experience. The Parr family from The Incredibles will be handling the meet and greet at the door, and will also be having a CD give-away for lucky guests. The partygoer, ghoul or ghost, should make sure to stock up on Redbull, as this party takes place from 3 to 8 a.m. For people wishing to purchase advance tickets, go to M2M Fashion, located near Sky Bar at 3200 Montrose Blvd.
