ASK THE ATHLETES

Camraderie the most important of memories

Shelby Scott

Soccer

This is definitely one of (my favorite memories), because we’ve never beat Rice since we’ve been here. This is a perfect way to send us off, and to beat them with a shutout is great. All my favorite memories are just spending time with my teammates. I’m going to miss having that relationship that comes with being on a team. You can’t have that anywhere else. It’s a group of ladies that I see every morning before the sun comes up and who I know is there for me every day. It’s something that only being on a team can give you.

Passion of the game influences team dynamic

(I’ll miss) Friday night games, playing here (at Robertson Stadium). It’s a gorgeous night, being able to play. That’s why we play, for the passion of the game. You work hard, you sweat hard during practice, and when you step on that field, nothing matters.

(It’s) not really the games (I’ll miss the most.) I’d say just traveling with the team, being in the locker room with the team, the camaraderie we have, the inside jokes we have with everybody. Those times I’m going to miss, because I’m not going to get sisterhood like this in the real world.

Sharing hard-won victory with team is unrivaled

Maegan Kiphart

Soccer

Through all the up and downs, all the hard things that we’ve been through just makes the high moments better – all of the friendships that I’ve formed and the great wins that we’ve had. Last Friday’s game (against UTEP) was actually really good. It’s always nice to win overtime when you’ve worked over 100 minutes so hard and you get that goal, you just get a rush of emotion that’s like nothing else you can get anywhere outside of sports, and it’s just amazing that I was able to spend it with my best friends.

Beating old rivals, working out in early mornings

Brittney Pfeiffer

Soccer

Definitely, this one tops (the list of my favorite memories.) Like Shelby said, this is the first time we’ve beat Rice. It’s just hard finally leaving. You don’t think it comes, but then it finally comes and you’re done playing. I’m going to miss just all the girls in general. They’re like our sisters. They’re a great support system for us on and off the field, and once we start practicing again I’ll probably miss working out and getting up at 7:00 in the mornings. Possibly.
