The Office of University Services will hold four town hall meetings today and Wednesday to discuss possible changes and additions to the Oberholtzer Dining Hall and the Moody Towers Dining Hall.
Students and faculty members will gather with members of the University Services team to discuss changes and renovations and provide feedback on preferences and dislikes concerning their dining experiences.
"What we want to do is ask about their dining preferences: what they eat, what’s important, and we want to know what they are not getting," Auxiliary Customer Service Coordinator Maria Honey said.
University Services is encouraging students not only from the residential facilities to attend but also from Cambridge Oak Apartments, Cullen Oaks Apartments and Bayou Oaks Apartments.
Honey said the Office of University Services wants to hear what is most important in the eyes of a student. Honey, along with the rest of the University Services staff, hopes the laid-back atmosphere of the town hall will encourage students to the staff members what is most important to them and what they expect when they eat at the Oberholtzer and Mood Towers Dining Halls.
"We want to try and establish a relationship and open communication with the students so it’s straight from the source – this is not a survey, not an e-mail," Honey said. "We want to have a better idea of what they are seeking through their dining experience."
The Office of University Services oversees the dining contracts and is trying to develop a program that meets students’ needs.
University Services officials said they are working hard to ensure that every on-campus resident is aware of the four chances to attend a town hall meeting and voice their opinion. Officials have also reached out to managers and directors within the residential life and housing realm.
The first town hall meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in Oberholtzer Dining Hall and the second will take place at 6:30 p.m. at The Cambridge Oaks Apartment clubhouse. Town hall meetings will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Moody Towers Dining Hall and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Cullen Oaks Community Center.
Once all town hall meeting information has been gathered and evaluated, University Services will release a statement with an overview of all of the meetings, stating their office priorities and goals, along with a timeline of expected improvements and changes.
