The Blaffer Student Association’s Red Block Bash, from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Blaffer Gallery and the Fine Arts Building courtyard, will celebrate the arts and the work students have done throughout the semester.
The bi-annual event has been around for many years, offering an on-campus arts celebration every semester. Each year, the event has something new to offer.’
Past years have included student dancers and singers. This semester, the BSA has put together quite a lineup.
There will be an origami workshop with materials provided, music by Henry Darragh, a jazz soloist and graduate student at the Moores School of Music, and performances by Siren, a group composed of members from the Moores School of Music’s Saxophone Studio.
Siren will perform original music written by composition majors and inspired by eight of the artists being featured in the 2009 School of Art Masters Thesis exhibition.’
The 2009 School of Art Masters Thesis exhibition will also be on display throughout the evening, and guests are invited to stop by the Blaffer Gallery to view the works. The musical performances begin at 4:15 p.m. and start again every 45 minutes.’
Don’t forget about the food, eit her. St. Arnold’s Brewery is providing the beer and there will be free pizza.
At 6:15 p.m., there will be a drawing for prizes, but you must be present to win.
If pizza, beer and visual stimulation sound like a good time, the Blaffer Student Association’s Red Block Bash promises to be fun for everyone who attends. The event is open and free to all.
