Enrollment-textbook purchase integration convenient, not cheaper: C
UH students will have the opportunity to purchase course textbooks at the same time they enroll in a course, The Daily Cougar’s Patricia Estrada reported in ‘Book purchases simplified,’ (Monday, News).
Former UH Student Government Association President Sam Dike told Estrada the benefit of adding UH Bookstore links to PeopleSoft was to help students ‘better estimate the total cost of enrolling in a class.’
However, integrating textbook purchase with enrollment may not be as efficient as it seems on first glance.’
For instance, payment of tuition and books will remain separate, and require students to put sensitive data such as a credit card number online twice. Also, textbooks purchased at the UH Bookstore must still be picked up at the University Center location unless the student pays an extra shipping fee, which will probably be just as hefty as the textbook.
Offering the option of online book purchase from the UH bookstore also tacitly encourages students not to purchase books from other Web sites, where they are often found to be cheaper.

Of the 17 years Leno has performed on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show,’ Thursday was the first instance of the notoriously hard-working showman to have canceled a show.

While celebrities usually receive more media attention for professional mishaps, Jay Leno is a prime example of upholding a serious attitude of showmanship.’
Leno puts the ‘business’ in the entertainment business, and is ‘doing just fine,’ according to an NBC statement.’
