Five Minutes of Fame: Finance senior banks on blues

Kevin Cook: So what is your academic angle? Your major, minor, etc?

Dustin Martin Jr.: My undergraduate major is finance, and I’ve already applied to graduate school in Vermont for organized leadership and management.

Cook: Sounds like fun. Where is that going to lead you after graduate school?

Martin: I work in the credit department of a bank here, so I’ll continue in the finance/banking vein after I graduate.

Cook: Is there a Mrs. Finance Major or a girlfriend?

Martin: No, I’m currently single.

Cook: Well, this is a great forum for meeting women, so you’re in luck. Should we include some contact information at the end of the interview?

Martin: Haha, I don’t know about that. But if the right girl saw this and came along, I’d certainly take a look.

Cook: So what does a banker do for fun?

Martin: Football and dodgeball, for sure.

Cook: Do you go to one of the local high schools and just sort of jump in?

Martin: No, I play in a league organized by the Mezzanine Lounge. I play a little football, but I love dodgeball.

Cook: So the Mezzanine Lounge is where one can find bankers cutting loose?

Martin: Absolutely. I love to hang out there, sometimes sing a little karaoke.

Cook: Let’s say you’ve imbibed some liquid courage, you’re feeling good and you’ve got one shot to impress the ladies with a song. Which song are you choosing?

Martin: ‘Lie To Me’ by Jonny Lang. The greatest song by the greatest blues artist still around.

Cook: You’re into the blues?

Martin: Absolutely. I love Lang, and I saw Delbert McClinton and Steve Miller Band up in the Woodlands not too long ago. That sort of music and feeling are totally saturating.

Cook: So, for all the women out there reading this who are looking for a banker, and there are many I’m sure, what makes you special or stand out from the crowd?

Martin: I don’t necessarily think I’m special or different. I am sincere about my education, though. What I’m learning is a lot more meaningful than line items on a r’eacute;sum’eacute;.
