Like it or not, porn is here to stay

If there is one thing that is universally known about the Internet, it is that there is a lot of porn.

Just’ searching the word ‘porn’ on Google brought up about 205 million sites. When I revised my search to ‘free porn,’ it came back with about 71 million. That means that if no other free porn sites were ever created and I spent only one minute on each site, it would take me more than 135 years without a break just to look at all of that free porn.

I tried to look at all of the free porn on the Internet when I was 13 years old. I had no problem with entering these sites and clicking on a legal page that would allow me to view its contents. My only hindrance was that I was using dial-up service at the time, so it took forever to load anything.

To solve this dilemma, my pubescent mind thought that it would be a great idea to print out the pages when they were done loading and shove them in between my box frame and mattress. That is, obviously, the worst place in the world to hide things, because it is the most common place for people to store their contraband.

Then, one day, my mother decided to do a thorough cleaning of my room while I was away at a sports camp.

This led to an incredibly awkward conversation with my father on the way home, where he referred to the printout collection as my ‘second mattress.’ The main theme of my father’s argument against porn was that if I ever wanted to see a non-pixilated naked woman, I would have to stop looking at porn.

I would like to think that porn is viewed as ‘bad’ because of the altruistic ideal that we could all be more moral people, and not because it would prevent viewing an actual person naked. If my father’s explanation was true, then I think that there would be a lot less porn in the world.

The sad realization of pornography is that it is as good as it gets for some people. Having a membership with a porn Web site will be the closest some will ever come to being in an actual relationship.’ For the people involved in the porn, the fact that they were filmed while having sex might be their only real contribution to society.

Whether pornography is good or bad makes no difference; it still deserves a place in this world.

Pornography has the ability to turn the unreasonable into the completely rational. Just scrolling through all of porn’s different sub-categories, it is insane to think that there are normal people out there who look at these sites.

Serial killer Ted Bundy, in his last interview before his execution, blamed his murders on porn, and people believed him. It is this ‘blame game’ that makes porn dangerous and comical at the same time.

There is nothing that anyone can do to remove porn from the world because there is so much of it out there.

Porn is not going away, so people need to learn how to deal with it in their own ways and not let it distort their lives. Don’t allow pornography to change your views on what sexuality is to the completely absurd.
