I received this message in my inbox this morning, and I thought I’d share it with you all:
For all of you younger folk, I thought you might like to know that several of us older folk are just astonished with the mine rescue in Chile.
None of us ever even imaged such a rescue was even possible.
Mine work in the U.S. is seen as the lowest of the low with death on the job as always a real possibility.
The San José mine rescue in Chile will forever change how we think about mine safety in America and it will change how we think about miners and their families.
And today is a national holiday in Chile with kids given the day off from school!!! That is amazing.
And how they ever manged to get all the electricity and lights up and running for the TV cameras must be a study of sorts in journalistic dedication.
People in the U.S.A. who live in coal country are watching all of this is absolute awe!
