The Cougars added another local product to their program by bring on transfer J.J. Richardson.
Per NCAA rules, Richardson will only be able to participate in practice and not games, but will have two years of eligibility remaining when he can begin playing for the Cougars in the 2012-13 season.
The 6’8, 240 pound forward played at Pittsburgh for the last two years after attending Fort Bend Hightower High School.
As a member of the Panthers, Richardson played in 45 games. He saw action in 23 contests as a sophomore, averaging 1.1 and .9 rebounds on 48 percent shooting in 5.3 minutes per game.
Richardson chose UH over Tulsa and Charlotte. He is the eighth member of the Cougars’ recruiting class and third of the spring signing period. The Cougars have one unused scholarship from the spring signing period that can be used on another transfer player or during the fall.
