Swimming & Diving – UH hires new head coach

The Cougars added the newest member to their family with Augie Busch becoming the fourth head coach of the swimming team.

Busch is coming off an eight-year stint at Arizona as an assistant.

“He cares about his student-athletes,” Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades said in a release. “The number of highly decorated swimmers who spoke out about Augie was astounding. Not only was it clear he made them better swimmers, but he had a major impact on their growth as people and citizens of their community.

Prior to Arizona, Busch was an assistant at Arkansas between 2001-2003.

“Houston is a program with a first-class facility and an established nationally ranked diving program with Jane Figueired,” Busch said. “With those key ingredients already in place, I know we can build on that and become a program that great swimmers want to be associated with.”
