It is only fitting that Jack J. Valenti be honored with the School of Communications being named for him. A native and son of Houston, Jack was a campus and Houston leader in many ways and he loved the University of Houston. He returned from World War II and attended the University while working with Humble Oil Company (later ExxonMobile), he later formed his own advertising Agency and eventually worked for President Lyndon Johnson until becoming the Czar (President) for the Motion Picture Industry. He was a communicator superb and mastered the art of communications as his career illustrates. But above all he was a credit to The University of Houston and the city of Houston.
