Levine fills two spots on coaching staff

Head coach Tony Levine’s coaching staff is beginning to take shape.

Levine announced today that linebackers coach Jaime Bryant will be promoted to defensive coordinator. Bryant takes over for Brian Stewart, who spent two seasons at UH and helped the Cougars transition to a 3-4 defense. Stewart is leaving UH to pursue other coaching opportunities.

Bryant served as defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt in 2009 and 2010, while also coaching defensive backs.

Levine also announced today that Lee Hays will take over as the Cougars’ offensive line coach.

Hays replaces B.J. Anderson, who will join former co-offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury at Texas A&M as a part of former head coach Kevin Sumlin’s staff.
