The Cougars will travel across town to participate in cross-town rival Rice’s Victor Lopez Invitational on Friday at Holloway Field
“We are getting ready for it just as we do every week early in the season, we are trying to get people out there to qualify and run personal bests,” hurdles coach Seun Adigun said.
Adigun said that coaches are looking for athletes to come together as a team early in the season and just do their best.
This will be the second outdoor meet of the season for the Cougars. The Cougars will try to emulate their early season success.
Eleven other schools will be participating at the Victor Lopez Invitational such as Rice, Notre Dame, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas-Pan American, Southwestern, SFA, Texas Southern, HBU, and Lamar.
Adigun said that the team is really coming together and wants the athletes to go out there and run personal best.
“We as a coaching staff, as a team and as a program look forward to it as another opportunity for each athlete to encourage the next to build a program and the team as a higher track and field unit,” Adigun said.
