UH Notebook: UH gets new head volleyball coach

Athletic Director Mack Rhoades announced the hiring of Kaddie Platt as the new head volleyball coach.

Platt joins the Cougar Athletic Department after spending 17 seasons as head coach at Houston Baptist University.

She enters the 2012 season, UH’s last in Conference USA, with a career record of 499-157.

In her time at HBU, Platt amassed eight conference championships and six appearances in the NAIA National Tournament in 17 years.

She led the Huskies to a 22-9 record in 2011.

Platt will replace former UH head coach Molly Alvey, who accepted the head coach position from the University of Cincinnati in the offseason.

UH closed the 2011 season third in C-USA standings, with a 19-11 over all record.

Platt is a graduate of HBU, where she played four seasons from 1991-94.

The Cougars will be without seniors Lucy Charuk and Ingride Zauere, but return many of their top players including Katie Norris, Stephanie Nwachukwu, Chandace Tryon, Caitlin Ogltree and Kadi Kullerkahn.
