HEB president to speak on retailing, entrepreneurship

The Retailing and Consumer Sciences department will host its annual event, “Movers and Shakers,” on Wednesday in the Cameron Building.

From 1 to 2 p.m. in room 101, H.E.B. President Scott McClelland, the keynote speaker for the event, will give a talk titled “The Future of Retailing: Being an Entrepreneur in the Food Industry.”

After McClelland’s event, students will choose to attend one of three breakout events in either room 103, 105 or 109 until 3 p.m.

The first round of breakout sessions include “RE:THINK: Re-Branding & International Retailing & Manufacturing,” “Challenges of Managing a Small Store & Online Retailing” or “Green Initiatives in Retailing & Re-Branding.”

From 3 to 4 p.m., students can choose between three other breakout sessions: “Re-inventing JC Penney,” “The Challenges of Store Management: The Macy’s Story” or “A Vice-President Speaks Out: The Stage Store Retail Revolution.”

Other speakers include other retail-related entrepreneurs and people in leadership positions at retail stores.
