Congressional leaders said today that they have reached a tentative agreement on a bill bundling the extensions on the lowered subsidized Stafford student loan interest rates and highway funding.
Initial reports by the Associated Press indicate that the bipartisan bill omits text approving the Keystone XL Pipeline, while also reducing the time allotted for environmental review of highway projects by half.
The bill, if approved by congress this weekend, would keep the 3.4 percent interest rates from doubling for another year, and allow the government to continue spending money on highways for two more years.
