UH will make its first postseason appearance since 2010, when the team made an improbable run through the Conference USA tournament to grab an automatic invitation into the NCAA tournament.
UH has accepted a bid to play in the College Basketball Invitational. They will face its former Southwestern Conference Rival, Texas, at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hofheinz Pavilion.
The winner will face either George Mason or College of Charleston in the second round March 25.
It is the Cougars’ first appearance in the CBI since making back-to-back appearances in 2008-09.
They finished with a 7-9 in C-USA. Last time on the court, the Cougars lost to UTEP in the quarterfinals of the C-USA tournament Thursday.
UH and Texas last played in 2000 — a 71-60 win by the Longhorns at Hofheinz.
